Best practices: Styling your content
Your Seeds CMS powered website has been designed to display pages along with a theme, which is custom developed according to your requests at the time of building your site. This principle is also true for most websites, with or without Content Management System. The theme includes the background, fonts, colours, menu styles and many other 'design' elements of your website.
In some editing tools, you may be provided the choice to change the font family of your text, or its size, and maybe sometimes its colour. We recommend not to manually change text size or styling where possible, as some specific formats have very probably been created so your content respects the styling of your custom theme. Instead, we recommend you use the formats menu, where we've usually added theme-specific formats/styling that can be applied to your content, such as your own branding colours or chosen fonts.
This is important to bear in mind for 2 main reasons:
- the theming/styling of your website's content is usually designed to work across a number of devices (computers, tablets, mobile phones...) and manually changing the styling of your content may not always fit in this design
- the day you have another theme designed to work along with your content, the aspect will probably be very different to what you've manually styled in your content with the initial theme
We usually try to think of a broad range of formats you are likely to use in your content, but if there is a specific formatting/style you wish to use recurrently, drop us a line and we'll probably add it to the styling of your theme, so that you can re-use this styling again with one click instead of manually applying it yourself each time.
